Derren Brown Roulette Trick

I will be providing regular videos on Pokersharkpool from now on in order to really spice the site up. Because my background isn’t just in poker and poker coaching and writing then I will be talking about more subjects. These subjects will include casino gambling, cheating and sports betting.

I am going to revisit the Derren Brown experiment that I was discussing earlier on my blog. If you watch the video then you will notice numerous things.

Did you spot the high profile roulette wheel? I have only ever worked on one such wheel and that was back in 1990. They are an absolute dream to be able to predict simply because the number dividers are so deep (this is what is meant by high profile).

I am not aware of any such wheels that are in operation of this type although I am still investigating this as we speak. Back when I worked in casinos (a badly spent youth) then it was possible to visually predict where a ball would land. The only major question mark was in the metal ball deflectors (called canoes) and how they would interrupt the analysis.

At first glance watching the video, this may seem impossible but they are three key variables at work here. Wheel speed (rotor speed), ball drop off point and ball speed. You can with enough practice start to ascertain where the ball will fall based on where it has been spun from.

You certainly do not have to resort to watching traffic down a busy motorway or trying to ascertain the bounce of a squash ball to be able to do this as Derren Brown did in his TV show. All this can be done simply using the proper procedures that many dealers have by simple sheer repetition. It certainly does not take a full year of practice that Derren claimed. Then again it may take a full year if you don’t have the time to dedicate to it as I am sure that he is a very busy man.

We on the other hand were working with roulette wheels all night long, day after day, week after week and year after year. If anyone is interested in the mechanics of how to visually predict a roulette ball then leave a comment with your e-mail address and I will get in touch if and when I get some time, Although when that will be, who knows. :-)

Anyway guys and gals……see you soon and take care and hope that you like my new look blog. :-)
