Looks like Full Tilt Poker finally got their man in Tom Dwan alias “durrrr” as he became their newest red pro. One can only imagine just what sort of financial package that he will be on given the level of interest that he generates on the site. Maybe though he might just need the money soon enough based on his recently reported $3 million downswing in the past couple of weeks!
So I kind of thought that today’s video was appropriate as it shows Barry Greenstein sucking out on the online poker wizard in brutal fashion. Actually though it isn’t that bad as Barry merely hits a five outer but its bad enough when you lose a $500k pot with aces.
Actually this brings up another point, how much adjustment will Dwan be making with regards to his online poker game? His main rivals at the high-stakes games must surely be plotting against him. If they are not then they cannot be world class surely? I predict that there will be a few new names in those games next year and some of the regular winners may just stop having everything their own way.
Let’s look at facts here, these guys play poker under a microscope. Everything that they do is analyzed and stored in minute detail. So if you wanted to design a strategy to beat someone then it is easier to do it now. Let us say that Dwan has a personal head to head result against Ziigmund of +$2.1 million.
Ziigmund then adjusts (by whatever method) and suddenly the boot is on the other foot. I don’t mean to cause controversy here but remember the Brian Townsend incident. I just don’t believe that human nature can be that straight and above board that numerous high-stakes poker players can be on the level all the time when tens of millions of dollars are at stake.
If I played at those levels, I would look for a way to win. In 2008 when I dropped my $100k, it suddenly hit me that I must have been crazy to play on at $25-$50 in the way that I had been. I was trying to play these guys at “poker” when what I should have been doing was searching for a way to win……read into that what you will as I am off to watch the England vs Brazil game.
